Welcome to the Motor Fuel Tax IFTA online registration application.
After you complete the online registration, you must print out and sign the Application Certification page and mail it to the address provided. Be sure the information you enter is complete and accurate.
The signed Application Certification must be received by the Motor-fuel, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Unit within 30 days of your online registration in order to comply with IFTA regulations. If the Application is not received, your license and decals will be revoked. We will review your application and mail your decals within two weeks after your application has been approved.
If you have suspended or denied IFTA decals by any other state or Canadian
province, Maryland will not issue decals without a written release from the other
jurisdiction.
All IFTA licensees are required to file quarterly returns. These returns will
be printed and mailed to you from the Regional Processing Center in Albany, New
York approximately one month before they are due. Your completed returns and any appropriate
payments must be sent to
Albany, New York in accordance with the instructions included with the
returns. A minimum penalty of $50 will be automatically assessed for each return received in New York past the due date.
By accepting Maryland IFTA decals you agree that you will submit
complete and accurate quarterly reports on the operations of your vehicle(s).
Failure to file quarterly returns, or for providing estimated or inaccurate
figures, can result in an assessment based on 40 gallons of fuel per vehicle, per
day.
